On Wednesday 13th Dec Oxford City Council will be voting to continue the use the pesticide glyphosate in public spaces. The World Health Organisation have declared the chemical a probable carcinogen, and there is clear evidence it is harmful to bees.
We’ll be outside the Town Hall 5pm December 13th to protest against the decision. Please join us.
Councillor Lucy Pegg says
“It is hugely disappointing to see Oxford City Council seeking to continue its use of glyphosate, a harmful chemical that puts nature and human health at risk.
Practical alternatives have already been adopted by other councils – including Brighton, Hammersmith & Fulham, Westminster and Edinburgh – pledging that their areas will be free from glyphosate and other pesticides. Moving away from glyphosate is possible, especially if Oxford considers working with nearby councils and other local partners who share an interest in managing their land with nature in mind”
