Sushila Dhall has lived in Jericho and Carfax for over 40 years and during this time has represented local residents on both the County and City Councils. She was the third-ever elected Green councillor in the UK, serving alongside Caroline Lucas as a county councillor for Central Oxford Division from 1996 till 2005. In 2004 she was elected as a city councillor for then Carfax ward, where she served until 2010. After stepping back from local politics for several years, in 2026 she was elected to represent Carfax and Jericho with 50% of the vote.
Sushila has remained an active figure in the local community throughout her life, working for equality, human rights and justice, and champions the diversity that makes Oxford such a great city. She is passionate about improving walkability in Oxford and building community wealth through a more local economy.
Sushila works for a charity with refugees and asylum seekers and is a trained psychotherapist, having studied from undergrad to postgrad at the University of Oxford. She is a trade union member and local transport activist; is chair and co-founder of Oxford Pedestrians’ Association; is a Trustee, trainee, supervisor and treasurer for the Abbey; and has been chair of the Rewley Park Management Company,
